Rattan is found in tropical rainforests in countries like Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Bangladesh. It began to gain popularity in the United States around the 70’s and was used in furniture mainly outside the home. Currently, we see this gorgeous material popping up inside since it can be woven into almost any piece of furniture or decorative accessory, and it can be used in almost any design style when paired correctly with various woods, metals, and colors!
You can never truly go wrong with rattan – it’s a warm, natural element that brings the outside world inside and creates a comfortable sanctuary that promotes relaxation. It also just so happens to be a highly favored selection when it comes to 2022 interior design trends. Here are some of my favorite decorations, furniture, and accessories!
