Colorful Cabinetry

Bold colors such as greens, rich reds, and blues, mixed with neutral back drops will be extremely popular in 2022. Gone are the days of white cabinets (although, still, white cabinets have remained a classic) and in comes the chance to add some color to your kitchen! Not ready to paint all of your cabinets? Painting the island or butlers pantry are a great way to add pops of color.
More Details

Paying close attention to the details in the kitchen will be a lot more popular this year. This means paying attention to where you plug in your appliances so you don’t have cords draped across your countertops. This also means updating some of the details you’ve overlooked for years such as towel holders and light switch plates. Opting for upgrades in these areas will enhance the overall look of the kitchen and choosing designs you love will make it feel personal for years to come.
New Ovens

If you’ve been looking for a sign to update your oven, this is it. This year is all about putting a new range in your kitchen to really update your space! Induction ranges are becoming increasingly popular this year due to the fact that it’s a safer option than gas and causes less air pollution. Although this upgrade isn’t the most cost-efficient, it can really pay off in the long run.
Tile

Tile has been around for centuries, especially in kitchens due to it’s easy to clean nature. In 2022 we’ll see a lot more strategically-placed tiles in the kitchen – meaning tile will be placed in areas you wouldn’t expect it to be, such as a window jam.
Custom Organization

Remember having to choose between cabinets and open shelving? Designers this year have focused on creating both a practical and utilitarian solutions giving homeowners the best of both worlds – a functional yet aesthetically pleasing space.
Statement Slabs
A slab of granite, marble, quartz, etc is a popular way to create a luxurious feeling focal point in the kitchen. This year, we’ll see a lot more statement slabs that will be sure to grab your attention every time you walk into the room. Expect to see a lot more bold stone selections that go far beyond the classic marble designs.
“Lived In”

More people are leaving the perfect-looking high gloss kitchens behind and choosing to go with a more “homey” feel using hues like green, greys, and dusty blues. Hand painted tiles are a great way to achieve this feel as well as using finishes like unpolished brass.
Wooden Features

Wooden features have always been found in kitchens but this year really puts an emphasis on exposed beams and butcher block countertops. Incorporating these into your kitchen will add a sense of warmth by bringing the outdoor feels inside. In 2022 we’ll be seeing a lot of richer, deeper wood tones than the light, white oaks we know and love.
Different Cabinet Styles
Usually when we think of cabinet styles we think flat front or shaker styler. There’s so much more when it comes to cabinet designs and 2022 is the year that we’ll see this trend take off. Adding more details, shape, and dimensions to cabinets is an adventurous risk but will make your kitchen either cohesive with the rest of your home or stand out as a statement all together. Think fluted, arched, and beaded cabinets!
Multi-Purpose

Since the world has shifted and more people are working from home, we’ll see a lot more kitchens that have multiple purposes. A built in desk area is a popular as far as 2022 kitchen trends while some people decide to build a half wall and create their own little separate area. Investing in creating an office or school spot will prove to be both functional and relaxing. Extending your bar to offer a seating area is another great example of how to make your kitchen multi-purpose.
Modern Country

The preferred kitchen design style this year is modern country. Also influenced by the shift in how we live, more people are drawn to this style because it reminds them more of the country and less of the city. Rustic, country-inspired kitchens can be achieved by implementing soft colors, exposed beams, distressed brickwork, metallic accents, high-specification appliances and modern, rustic lighting
Soft Shapes
In 2022 we’ll be seeing a lot more soft shapes and that doesn’t just mean in the kitchen. Expect to see rounded countertop corners and circular dining tables. Curved cabinets will also become increasingly popular in 2022.
Outdoor Kitchens
If you’re looking for a sign to update your outdoor kitchen or grill area, this is it. Smart kitchens have followed the trend from indoors to outdoors. Some ways to achieve this are by adding ambient LED lighting to the area, waterproof TVs and sound systems, WI-FI enabled grills and smokers, and wi-fi controlled heating features. Turning your outdoor kitchen into a smart-kitchen is the perfect way to upgrade that outdoor space.
Black and White

Black and white is back on the list for 2022 kitchen trends. While bold colors are a trend so is the monochrome and two toned kitchen trend. The best way to achieve this look is to design it in a way where it’s not too over the top. Using marble, tiles, cabinetry, etc., be selective in how you incorporate it. Save the darker tones for the smaller areas and statement pieces especially if you have a smaller kitchen.
