Interior design trends change every year and although 2020 has taken a lot from, it hasn’t taken away the reliable change of upcoming trends. Thinking of redoing your living room? Here’s everything you need to know about what’s to come in the new year as far as living room trends in 2021!
Comfort is Everything

Soft edges and textiles, organic and earthy prints, neutral palettes will be popular in 2021, given how much stress we’ve all endured in 2020. Living rooms have become a place to unwind and relax after a stressful day and there’s no better way to create a sanctuary in your own home than to transform your living room with comfortable furniture and decorations.
Multi-purpose Furniture

There’s no doubt we’ve had to be flexible in 2020 and it’s influenced 2021 living room trends. Our living rooms have to be flexible too and one way to achieve that is with multi-purpose furniture. Think a coffee table that doubles as a desk, or a cabinet that folds out as an office space. Living rooms will become offices and you’ll see more and more multi-purpose furniture popping up!
Natural Elements

Natural elements are my personal favorite thing to add to any space. You can never go wrong with a little greenery or natural texture. Adding natural elements to your living room will give the room a sense of comfort, something we’ve established is a strong theme for 2021. Wicker, rattan, silk, marble, and plants are all natural elements that will be found in many living rooms this year!
If you’re thinking of growing an indoor garden, I recently purchased my first smart garden from Click and Grow. They come in all different sizes and grow organic plants all on their own! It’s a perfect way to add a natural element and have fresh, organic produce.
Curved Furniture

Curved furniture is considered to be soft in the interior design world because it creates a sense of flow. I love to use curved ottomans, coffee tables, end tables and sofa tables. If you’re thinking of purchasing a statement curved piece – now is the time!
Warm Palettes

Continuing the trend of comfortable, say goodbye to the cold minimalist designs we’ve come to know and love. Adding warm colors to your living room will add that level of comfort 2021 is trying so hard to achieve.
Layers and Textures

Layering rugs, stacking books with a candle on top, layering photo frames on top of each other all all ways to add layers to your living room and is going to be big for 2021 living room trends. Add it on your list of to-do’s if you’re thinking of transforming your living room to be trendy this year!
Personality

Gone are the days of having absolutely nothing in your living room. We haven’t been able to get out much, let alone travel, so adding personality to your space is going to be popular this year. We all need something to make our souls happy and what better way than to add personality and memories to your living room?
Natural Light

Natural light will never not be a good idea, but being cooped up has influenced this one for 2021. Bigger windows, skylights and outdoor bathrooms will be more popular this year – it’s time to splurge for that huge window you’ve been thinking about!
